As a freelancer its important to protect yourself no matter how small the project, make sure you get your client to sign an agreement. As I’ve found to my cost if you don’t do this clients can easily walk away and you’re left out of pocket. In a recent project I had a client do just this. After spending a substantial amount of money hiring cars and paying for petrol on visits back and forth to the client’s business location, I was given the go ahead to start the project. I completed about 80% of the project, all that was needed was for the client to give me the finished content for the website. I was then given the news that the client had sold the business, therefore I had a website that wasn’t needed and didn’t earn a penny. It’s not a great feeling. Below is the contracts I use for clients, feel free to download it and use it as you wish.

Conclusion
So no matter how nice your client may be never trust them and always get them to sign a contract, Sounds harsh buy your only protecting yourself. Contracts also give clients a clear idea of exactly what they are paying for so they benefit both parties.
